Steven J. Heine

Professor of Psychology, University of British Columbia; Author, Cultural Psychology

STEVEN HEINE is Professor of Psychology and Distinguished University Scholar at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses largely on cultural psychology. In particular, he has explored how cultural experiences shape the ways that people understand themselves and the world around them. He has been on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania and has had visiting positions at Kyoto University and Tokyo University. He has received the Distinguished Scientist Early Career Award for Social Psychology from the American Psychological Association and the Early Career Award from the International Society of Self and Identity. He is the author of the textbook Cultural Psychology.
