PETER COVENEY holds a chair in Physical Chemistry, is director of the Centre for Computational Science, and an honorary professor in Computer Science at University College London as well as professor adjunct within the School of Medicine at Yale University. He is active in interdisciplinary theoretical research including physics, chemistry, materials science, life and medical science, notably in Europe's Virtual Physiological Human programme. Coveney has published over 350 scientific papers and books, and is the recipient of several awards in computational science and artificial intelligence. He has chaired and sat on numerous national and international committees advising government and the executive on matters pertaining algorithms, computational and computer science.
He has written two popular and critically acclaimed science books with Roger Highfield, Frontiers of Complexity and The Arrow of Time. Both books have been translated into many languages.
