AMES GILLIGAN has been on the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School since 1966, for whom he directed mental health services for the Massachusetts prison system for many years; and is Director of the Center for the Study of Violence, Immediate Past President of the International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy, author of Violence: Reflections on a National Epidemic and Preventing Violence, and a member of the Academic Advisory Council of the National Campaign Against Youth Violence, to which he was appointed by President Clinton.
