JAMES CROAK is an American artist working in conceptual figuration. He works in series, which now include the Dirt Baby series, infants are made of compressed top soil; New Skins for the Coming Monstrosities, skin appliance to shield us from environmental insult; the Dirt Man series, a contemporary Kouros wherein a figure represents a time; The Other Twelve Hours, night landscape photography, and others. Mr. Croak is represented by the Stux Gallery in NYC and a monograph of his work by Thomas McEvilley is available through Abrams publishers.
