AUBREY DE GREY is a biomedical gerontologist and chairman and chief science officer of the Methuselah Foundation, a Virginia-based non-profit volunteer organization. After beginning his career in artificial intelligence, Dr. de Grey became increasingly conscious of the lack of serious progress toward a cure for aging, and began a course of research to first earn his PhD in biology (Cambridge University, 2000, for work on the role of mitochondria in aging) and then to make contributions toward that cure. The SENS platform for anti-aging intervention represents the central focus of that work.
De Grey is on the scientific advisory boards of numerous organizations with goals related to futurism and life extension, and is Chairman and Chief Science Officer of the Methuselah Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the near-term development of science-based interventions into aging; its premier projects are the Mprize for the radical extension of mouse lifespan, and the funding of biogerontological research under the umbrella of the nascent Institute for Biomedical Gerontology (IBG).
He is coauthor (with Michael Rae) of Ending Aging: The Rejuvenation Breakthroughs That Could Reverse Human Aging in Our Lifetime.
