RUPERT SHELDRAKE, Ph.D. is a biologist and author of more than 80 papers in scientific journals and ten books, including A New Science of Life (new edition, February 2009). He lives in London.
He is Director of the Perrott-Warrick Project for research on unexplained abilities of animals and humans, funded from Trinity College, Cambridge. He began his scientific career as a developmental biologist, working at Cambridge University, where he was a Fellow of Clare College. He was also a Research Fellow of the Royal Society. He did research on rainforest plants at the University of Malaya, and was Principal Plant Physiologist at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Hyderabad, India.
His books include The Presence of the Past, The Rebirth of Nature, Seven Experiments that Could Change the World, Dogs That Know When Their Owners are Coming Home, and The Sense of Being Stared At. With Matthew Fox he co-authored Natural Grace, and with Ralph Abraham and Terence McKenna The Evolutionary Mind. He has published many articles in newspapers and magazines, including New Scientist, The Spectator, and The Guardian, where he had a regular monthly column.
