Erling Norrby
Virologist; Former Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
ERLING NORRBY, a virologist, is Former Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He became Professor of Virology in 1972 at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm., Chairman of the Department, 1972 1990: Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (1990-1996) and finally Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
He has been a Member of the Nobel Committee, Karolinska Institutet, Adjunct member of the Nobel Committee, Karolinska Institutet and Chairman of the Nobel Assembly from 1981 to 1987. Active member of numerous medical committees in Sweden, he is involved in many international organizations and has received countless awards in recognition for his work. He is Lord Chamberlain in Waiting at the Royal Swedish Court.
