LUCY PAGE SOUTHWORTH received her doctorate in biomedical informatics at Stanford University. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001 and holds a master's of science from Oxford University.

Her research involves comparative analysis of expression data in eukaryotic organisms, and she has done medical social work in South Africa.
