Sean Carroll

SEAN CARROLL, a theoretical physicist at Caltech, is a rising star both in cosmology and in communicating science to a wide audience.  After getting his Ph.D. from Harvard, he has worked at MIT, the Institute for Theoretical Physics in Santa Barbara, and the University of Chicago, where he published papers on dark matter and dark energy, the physics of extra dimensions, quantum gravity, supersymmetry, topological defects, violations of Lorentz invariance and other fundamental symmetries, alternative theories of gravity, the cosmic microwave background, and inflationary cosmology.

Carroll started blogging in 2004, and in 2005 helped found the group blog Cosmic Variance(cosmicvariance.com), where he is the most prolific contributor.  Cosmic Variance is currently the most popular physics blog on the Internet, with over 20,000 visits per week and growing. It has been quoted by the New York Times, and recognized by Nature as one of the top five blogs in science.
